NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Metro police are trying to solve a two and a half month old murder in West Nashville. A man was shot and killed on Old Charlotte Pike.

The shooting happened in the middle of the afternoon on Wednesday April 4.

Residents in the 8900 block of Old Charlotte Pike heard gunshots in the area. A short time later someone found the body of Ray Clemmons.

The 40-year-old was shot to death in a driveway.

"He doesn't live there and it's kind of unusual that he'd be found in that location especially when he lived in the Tony Sudekum University Court area," said Metro police officer Chris Locke.

A few minutes earlier someone saw Clemmons talking or arguing with another person.

"We'd like information about who this was and if possible what they were talking about or arguing about prior to the gunshots being heard," said Locke.

Witnesses told police they saw two cars leaving the area at about the time of the murder.

"We're looking for two vehicles of interest in the case. One is a late model Chevrolet Monte Carlo purple in color. The other one was described as a dark green Ford Taurus," said Locke.

Police said they have lots of questions about this case and few answers. They would even like to know why Clemmons was so far from home. He lived more than 20 miles away.
