(AP) NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Fans devastated by the murder of former NFL quarterback Steve McNair this month got some comfort by remembering his charity work and his strong commitment to the community.
Without McNair's financial backing, his charitable legacy of youth football camps and Hurricane Katrina relief is unknown right now as his family instead focuses on sorting out his estate in court.
Mechelle McNair filed an emergency petition in probate court and a judge gave her 60 days to file an inventory of her late husband's estate. He had both business dealings and real estate holdings in two states that must be divided.
Don Weatherall, who helped McNair operate a foundation, said it's too soon to say for certain whether the charity will continue, but he thinks the family will want to continue the charitable legacy McNair started.
