School Patrol: Students Take Part In Camp About Song

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Schools in many Middle Tennessee communities have already started their new semester. Some students still on summer break got to participate in Music School.

The students are taking part in the Met Summer Camp retreat for kids. Margaret Campbelle-Holman is President of the Choral Arts Link which is hosting the summer camp.

"We actually have a camp that's chorally based that's music training, that's site reading, but it's also interpretation and vocal development," said Holman.

East Literature High school student Thomas Hesson is a second year Met student.

"It's not just about how you sing, you have to learn what to sing and you have to learn what it means and the notes, it's way different so it's difficult," said Hesson.

The camp lasted a week and at the end of the week, they performed for parents and other guests.

Several of the instructors at the Choral camp, are Metro Schools music teachers.
