NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs had lost their last 67 games before taking on Oakdale High School last Friday.
The team won the game 28 to 12 snapping the remarkable losing streak. The club has a new head coach and has worked extremely hard in the offseason to turn the program around.
"It brought tears to my eyes. I look over there in the stands and all the fans jumped the rails and stormed the field. It was a great feeling," said Red Boiling Springs Fullback Shelton Watson.
Coaches and players said they'll remember the landmark victory for a long time. Coach Kyle Shoulders took over the team this summer. He expected to find a team accustomed to losing, but instead he found a team desperate to win.
"40 years down the road - 40 or 50 years down the road; this is something they're going to tell their grandkids. Say you know 'I was a part of the Red Boiling Springs football when it broke that losing streak,'" said Shoulders.
The Bulldogs' next game is in two weeks against Pickett County.
