NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Crime Stoppers is trying to help solve an armed robbery of a hotel in South Nashville. The Extended Stay Lodge on Antioch Pike was held up in June.
The hold up on Monday June 8 was caught on surveillance cameras. He was in the lobby for several minutes waiting for the clerk to get off the phone.
"He was not rude. He actually waited until she got off the phone. When she got off the phone he indicated he had a weapon, told her he wanted the money from the register," said Bill Stewart, Metro Police Department.
Police said the clerk thought he was joking until he reached toward his waistband. That was when she complied and took the money out of the register and handed it to him. Police said he ran out the door heading toward a church behind the hotel.
"We're hoping someone will recognize him even though it's not that good a quality," said Stewart.
The clerk told police the man was about 5'6" and weighed close to 170 pounds. Police said they need witnesses to come forward.
"There were actually a lot of people staying at the hotel. They were on their balconies. We could not find any witnesses at that time," said Stewart.
Police are hoping someone will remember seeing a man running away from the hotel office to the church out back.
