Police Release Clarksville Murder Victim's Name

OAK GROVE, Ky. - Police spent early Friday morning searching for Donald Green Jr., the Ft. Campbell soldier wanted in connection with the murder of a Clarksville teen Thursday night.

Almost eight hours after allegedly stabbing 17-year-old Byron Nixon to death, Green turned himself in to police.

At 6:54 a.m. Friday, police arrested the 27-year-old soldier at Kangaroo Express on New Providence Boulevard in Clarksville and charged him with criminal homicide.

Police said Green stabbed and killed Nixon in the Clarksville Piggly Wiggly parking lot just after 11 p.m. Thursday. A

ccording to police, Green and Nixon where arguing when the soldier allegedly stabbed the victim in the chest.

The Piggy Wiggly where the incident occurred is located on Ft. Campbell Boulevard and State Line Road, which is just feet from the Tennessee-Kentucky state line. According to police, after being stabbed Nixon took off into Kentucky.

Nixon was found in Oak Grove, Ky., city limits before he was taken to Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, where he later died.

The victim was a Kenwood High School graduate, and he was originally from California.

The Army helped in the search efforts by checking security tapes to see if Green slipped back into post.

Specialist Green is from Kyle, Texas, and he is assigned to the 1st Brigade Combat Team as a petroleum supply specialist.

Investigators still are not releasing why the two met in the parking lot or what the argument was about.
