(AP) MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Grizzlies will hold the team's training camp in Birmingham, Ala., this year.

Chris Wallace, the Grizzlies' general manager and vice president of basketball operations, announced Monday that the camp will be held on the campus of Birmingham-Southern College from Sept. 29 to Oct. 5.

Wallace said many NBA teams hold training camp away from their home cities, and Birmingham will give the Grizzlies a chance to bond and focus on the upcoming season.

Team officials said it's just the third time since moving from Vancouver in 2001 that the team has hosted training camp outside of Memphis.
