NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Two people were dead Tuesday morning after gunfire erupted during an argument in East Nashville, and Wednesday morning police released the names of those victims.

Police identified the men as 24-year-old James Truitt and 21-year-old Artrell Wade. Both men were convicted felons with lengthy records.

After a police investigation, officers determined that the two men were gambling inside a home on North 2nd Street when two unidentified suspects entered the house and opened fire.

Police received the call just before 1 a.m. When officers arrived on the scene, they saw a woman in the front yard helping Wade who had been shot multiples times. The woman quickly disappeared when emergency officials attended to the 21-year-old. Police searched for the witness, so they could ask her some questions.

As for the Wade, he was taken to Vanderbilt where he died.

Around the same time, Truitt was brought in to Skyline Medical Center. Police said Truitt was shot, and then he ran out the back of the home located on North 2nd Street. Someone then picked up the 24-year-old and took him to Skyline Medical Center, where he died.

Robbery has not been ruled out as a motive.
