Daughter Charged After Father's Funeral

DECATUR, Tenn. (AP) - After attending her father's funeral and graveside service, an East Tennessee woman was taken to jail and charged in his fatal shooting.

Investigators told the Daily Post-Athenian in Athens that 36-year-old Jennifer Womac of Niota is the second person charged in the Sept. 19 slaying of Grady Nichols Jr. in Meigs County.

Womac was arrested on a first-degree murder charge Friday evening, after she had attended the funeral, graveside services and a family memorial service.

Authorities have charged 45-year-old James "Louie" Landers with first-degree murder.

Nichols was shot to death on the back porch of his residence near Decatur.

Landers and Womac are each being held on $500,000 bonds. They do not yet have attorneys.
