Police Need Help Solving South Nashville Homicide At Motel

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Metro police are hoping a call to Crime Stoppers can help them solve a murder in South Nashville. The killer is responsible for the death of a man at a motel on Bell Road more than two months ago.

A maintenance worker found the body at 1 p.m. on July 28 at the Inn Town Suites. The man's body was in room 135.

"He'd been there for some time. He was in a state of decomposition," said Corey Wall, Metro Nashville Police Department.

Thomas Turner, III was last seen five days earlier on July 23. Detectives discovered Turner had been working on computers in his room to make extra money.

"He lived at the apartments there, and that was basically his job. He could fix computers, take computers in, repair them and sell them back," said Wall.

Police said Turner also had a drug addiction, and he sold drug paraphernalia.

"He did have a drug history. He would sell crack pipes, he'd make in his room and he'd also buy narcotics and use them," said Wall.

They're not sure about a motive, but they said it doesn't look like robbery because valuable items were left behind.

"It does appear it was a retaliatory act or a drug transaction," said Wall.

There was also no forced entry, so police think Turner may have known his killer.

"He was a drug user, but people around him liked him and they killed him for no real reason," said Wall.

Police would like to hear from people who used drugs with Turner and knew people who sold drugs to him.

If you have information about the murder of Turner call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
