NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The prosecution and the defense rested their cases Thursday morning in the trial of Jason Burdick, who is also known as the Wooded Rapist.
After powerful testimony on Wednesday from the alleged victim, the defense chose not to call any witnesses on their behalf, so closings arguments started around 10 a.m. Thursday. By 11:30 a.m. the judge gave the jury their instructions, and the jury was deliberating an hour later.
For More On This Case:
During Wednesday's testimony alleged victim Patricia Young was emotional as she described the night she was attacked in her Oak Hill home in 1994.
Young also testified that she was able to bite off a piece of skin from her attacker. Police said DNA from that skin matches Jason Burdick.
Defense attorneys didn't dispute the DNA evidence, but they did say that the prosecution must prove there was intercourse in order to prove there was a rape.
