Police Investigate Deadly Shooting At Apartment Complex
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Crime Stoppers is helping Metro police find clues to solve a murder in South Nashville. It happened at an apartment complex where two men were shot and one was killed.
Witnesses have identified the car the killers used.
Gabrial Lopez and a friend stood in the parking lot of the Harding Glen Apartments on Tampa Drive. It was just after 8 p.m. on February 13.
Police said two men came up to them and started shooting. Lopez was fatally shot.
"The man Mr. Lopez was speaking with was also shot. We know there were multiple rounds found or multiple shots were fired, but we have no idea who the suspect is," said Brad Corcoran, Metro Nashville Police Department.
Police think it was a robbery. The shooters ran away to a silver car and sped away.
"There was a vehicle seen in the area, a suspect vehicle, but the statements are conflicting, so we're not sure what type of vehicle it was. It appears to be some type of Chevrolet, a light color," said Corcoran.
Police think the men may have robbed other people in the same area.
"We feel like this was a random robbery. There have been some other robberies in the area of this nature where people are getting out of their vehicle in parking lots and are approached by other individuals," said Corcoran.
Police said you should be concerned because the crime happened on a Friday night in a crowded apartment complex. Someone else could have been hurt or killed.
