Police Search For Clues In Death of Nashville Hotel Owner

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Mahesh Zaveri was gunned down in North Nashville this past July. Metro police are looking for more witnesses or anyone who might know something about the case.

On July 24 just before 10:30 p.m., a person discovered Mahesh Zaveri lying on the side of Briley Parkway Boulevard. It was near Brick Church Pike.

Paramedics rushed Zaveri to a hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

"At this time there are no known motives. We are looking into every possibility, but at this time there's no motive," said Colin O’Quinn with the Metro Nashville Police Department.

Someone shot Zaveri and his Lexus SUV went missing.

"We're hoping that there will be witnesses or somebody that actually saw him or whoever he was with in his vehicle that evening," said O’Quinn.

Police found the Lexus 300 SUV three days later in the parking lot of a church across from Maplewood High School. Investigators are hoping someone saw the vehicle.

"The family needs closure. They have lost a husband and father, and they need closure for this. The person who did this needs to be brought to justice," said O’Quinn.

Detectives found out Zaveri had been arrested for sexual battery and was waiting to stand trial. They don't know if the charge has anything to do with his death.
