Police Search For South Nashville Burglars

By Mark Bellinger

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Crime Stoppers is trying to help police find what appear to be professional burglars. They've hit several businesses in South Nashville.

Some of the men were caught on tape during the middle of the night on August 22 as they stole cash, jewelry and merchandise at Berry's Pawn on Murfreesboro Road.

Metro Police have obtained surveillance video from cameras inside Berry's Pawn Shop.

"The burglary was relatively sophisticated. It's a little unusual from what we normally see,” said Metro Police detective Mark Webb.

The video showed at least one masked burglar working behind the counter. Webb said the burglars broke into the safe and display counters. They stole a substantial amount of money and jewelry.

"The burglary was relatively sophisticated in that the suspects had to have planned it very well, and undoubtedly used look outs and spent a lot of time in the business,” said Webb.

Police believe several people were involved, and they think the burglars were careful not to park vehicles near the building.

"We have reason to believe that they probably approached on foot,” said Webb.

He said they could have left through nearby Middle Creek. Police are pretty sure the same people have committed several similar burglaries in South Nashville.

If you can help solve the case call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME. You can also text Crime Stoppers anonymously, text the word CASH, and your message to CRIMES.
