NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Metro Police say a Saturday night shooting in a quiet East Nashville neighborhood was drug-related.
Vincent Perkins,25, died after being shot at the intersection of Howard and Streets around 7:20 Saturday night.
Neighbors report hearing a gunshot, then seeing Perkins crawl onto a family's porch.
"I heard him yelling, 'help, help,' and so I yelled over to him 'Do you need something?' and he said 'Yes, I've been shot-call 911," said Karlin Clayton, who could see Perkins holding onto himself on her neighbor's porch. "My neighbor said that he came home to pools of blood on his front porch."
On Sunday, many Howard Avenue neighbors either knew little about the circumstances of the shooting, or nothing at all. Police say Perkins, who lived on Herman Street, was running from the suspect, or suspects, when he ended up on Howard Avenue.
"I think it's weird for me it happened at 7:30 at night, and you know, I had my kids. They were up and awake and you know, my husband walks the dogs in the evening and he could have been out," said Clayton. "It's not like it was 2:00 in the morning. It was a little frightening."
Police have not named any suspects. They're asking anyone with information on the shooting to call Crimestoppers at 74-Crime, or the East Precinct at 862-7525.
