NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Police look for help solving a murder in East Nashville. A man was killed during a robbery inside a home on Old Trinity Lane. Detectives are hoping someone saw the killers running from the home.
The attack happened at about 1:30 a.m. on October 14. David Hurst and his girlfriend lived in a mobile home on Old Trinity Lane.
Police said men entered the home through an unlocked door and demanded money from Hurst's girlfriend. One robber sprayed the woman with mace, and Hurst was shot.
"Once we arrived we found that the citizens had been killed by a gunshot that was apparent at the time," said Joe Winter with the Metro Police Department.
Somebody told police they saw the men running from the area. The killers jumped into a dark colored car. The car sped away toward Dickerson Road and disappeared into the dark and rainy night.
"If they're not apprehended and if they're still free, they're free to commit this type of offense and other serious offenses against other members of the public," said Winter.
Police hope someone will come forward with information about the men who ran from the scene. Maybe they said something and somebody overheard it.
"Again, it helps the family out bringing closure in a case like this and when it hasn't progressed as fast as we would like the public is always a good resource to tap into," said Winter.
