Police Need Help Solving Spider Man Robberies

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Men dressed in spider jackets are holding up convenience stores and markets in North and West Nashville.

North Precinct detective Dean Haney showed NewsChannel 5 several robberies caught on tape.

In each case the man with the gun is wearing the same type of jacket.

"He does have a gun and we want to make sure he doesn't hurt anybody," said Haney. "A robbery is just a trigger pull away from a homicide, so it doesn't take much for it to escalate."

Police said they've got evidence suggesting 20-year-old Terrell Stevenson is one of the robbers.

Investigators also believe he robbed the Family Dollar store on Jefferson Street.

They said Stevenson and his accomplice may be responsible for up to five robberies within the past month.

The video of the robbery at the Sunrise Market captured sound. Police can hear the robber demand money and the victim argue with him.

"She seemed a little perturbed at some point and wanted him out of there. She's lucky she didn't get hurt," said Haney.

She repeatedly told the robber there was money in just one cash register, but he insisted she open the other register. Then, after looking like he might leave - he came back and took lottery tickets.

"You can actually hear him speaking in there so someone may actually recognize his voice," said Haney.
