Rape Suspect Found Not Competent To Stand Trial

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – On Wednesday, a judge found Scobey Sowell mentally unfit to stand trial. Sowell was charged with rape of a child back in 2008.

An 11-year-old boy said Sowell assaulted him in a bathroom at Centennial Park.

A psychiatrist who treated Sowell testified that he suffers from schizophrenia and is seriously mentally ill.

The judge ordered Sowell to be committed to a mental health hospital until he is deemed competent to stand trial.
