A newly released audit calls for tighter controls over the way Metro handles speeding and parking tickets. The audit follows a NewsChannel 5 Investigation last May into ticket fixing.
Our investigation revealed that attorneys acting as special judges dismissed hundreds of speeding tickets.
The investigation led to the discovery of more than 5,000 missing tickets in the desk drawers of two employees at the Traffic Violations Bureau.
The audit found Metro police officers were allowed inside the Traffic Violations Bureau to remove tickets that had not yet been entered into the system.
It recommends the office limit access to the facility and require visitors to sign in. It also calls for better tracking of tickets through the judicial process.
