(AP) NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Vanderbilt coach Robbie Caldwell has promoted Des Kitchings to offensive coordinator and moved former coordinator Jimmy Kiser to handle the Commodores' quarterbacks.
Caldwell promised changes after a 21-7 loss to then-No. 19 South Carolina on Saturday night. He announced the moves at his weekly news conference Monday.
Vanderbilt (2-5, 1-3 Southeastern Conference) led 7-0 against South Carolina but never scored again. They finished with 250 yards offense.
Caldwell said the Commodores are a fragile bunch offensively but need to find a way to stay on the field.
This is Kitchings' first job as offensive coordinator. The 32-year-old coach doesn't have much time. Vandy visits No. 19 Arkansas (5-2, 2-2) on Saturday.
