GILES COUNTY, Tenn. – One of the teenagers accused of a triple murder of a Giles County mother and two sons has pleaded guilty to the crimes in exchange for a life sentence with no chance for parole.
District Attorney Mike Bottoms said William Angel pleaded guilty on Wednesday and agreed to truthfully testify against co-defendant Matthew Wood.
In October 2009, the bodies of Desere Thornton and her two sons, 16-year-old Jerrod and 9-year-old Anthony, were found in the smoldering ruins of their home.
Both Angel and Wood were charged with pre-meditated first degree murder, as well as aggravated arson and other charges.
Matthew Wood still faces the death penalty. His trial is set for February.
