Madison Building Destroyed By Fire Wednesday Morning

Posted: Updated:

MADISON, Tenn. - Firefighters were called out to a fire at a warehouse on Myatt Drive. The fire broke out around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday at Brown United Company.

The company sets up stages and bleachers for concerts and large public events.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a trailer filled with flames just inches away from the complex's main building.

Once inside, fire crews found several propane tanks and had to work to keep them from exploding. Firefighters were able to contain the flames to the trailer and prevent the fire from spreading into the nearby building.

A security guard working across the street at the former Peterbilt Motors Factory saw the smoke and called 911. Investigators aren't sure yet on a cause, but are looking closely at a heater that was left on.

"We don't think there was any foul play," said District Chief Will Dobson. "We are looking at a heat source as a possibility."

Firefighters not only battled the flames, but they also had to deal with freezing temperatures.
