NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Thieves carjacked a mini-van from an East Nashville home Thursday afternoon, but dumped the van once they realized there was a 7-month-old baby inside.

It happened around 2 p.m. at a home in the 1100 block Glenview in East Nashville.

"I was just dropping off some clothes, gave them to her, and on my way back to the van, I watched it pull away," the mom told NewsChannel 5.

Police soon located the van blocks away in the 500 block of South 12th Street with the baby still inside, unhurt. It appeared the suspects simply dropped the vehicle on the side of the street and ran.

"I just didn't care about van, all I cared about was getting my baby back. So that was all that was going through my head," said the mom.

The mom and baby were re-united.

18-year-old Percy Baker, Jr., 18-year-old Cantrell Flenoy, and 19-year-old Darius Rollins were arrested and charged with child endangerment and theft. Flenoy was also charged with evading arrest.

Baker allegedly told police that the trio had been driving around looking for a car to steal when they saw the mini-van. After Baker took off in the car, his two friends followed in a Pontiac Roadmaster. Baker soon realized the baby was in the car, and left it two blocks away.
