NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The man killed in a two-car crash Monday morning on Whites Creek Pike has been identified as 43-year-old Darren Stafford.
The wreck happened at 7:30 a.m. Police said Stafford was driving his 2003 Toyota Corolla southbound on Whites Creek Pike when 29-year-old Jason Richardson crossed into oncoming traffic from the northbound lanes in his Chevrolet Blazer and struck Stafford head-on.
Stafford died at the scene. Richardson was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Police are still investigating what caused Richardson to cross the double yellow line. Toxicology tests of Richardson's blood are pending to determine if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
