NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nashville-based Genesco company has informed customers that one of its computer networks was compromised and that some sensitive credit card information may have been stolen.
The Genesco stores affected are Journeys, Journeys Kidz, Shi, Johnston & Murphy stores, and some of the company's Underground Station stores.
Genesco said they are working with an outside expert to determine the extent of any possible compromise of customer information, such as credit and debit card numbers along with expiration dates and card verification codes. They do not believe that any names, addresses or Social Security Numbers were compromised.
The company notified law enforcement agencies and is working with them to identify those responsible. The extent of the intrusion is not known.
"We believe that the intrusion has been contained and are confident that our customers can safely use their credit and debit cards in all of our stores," Genesco President Robert Dennis said in a statement.
They recommend that customers review their card statements and other account information carefully and immediately notify their card issuer if they suspect fraudulent use.
For more information or further questions, customers are asked to call our Customer Information Center at (877) 441-2998.
