NC5 Investigates: The Truth About Crime

One-Hour Special Reveals Truth About Crime

A NewsChannel 5 Investigates special report revealed more of the truth about crime in Nashville, including details about crimes not counted and questions about how Metro police respond to citizens' calls for help.

The one-hour documentary included new details from NewsChannel 5's year-long investigation, as well as an extended interview with Nashville Mayor Karl Dean.

That special report aired Thursday, Dec. 30, on NewsChannel 5+ and New Year's Day on NewsChannel 5.

"Every one of the issues you raised are important to me," Dean told NewsChannel 5 chief investigative reporter Phil Williams.

"To me, this is good journalism. You are asking tough questions about the way that we run our department and the sort of policy decisions that are made -- and that is all fair."

The special report, hosted by anchor Rhori Johnston, included investigative reports by Williams, along with reporters Jennifer Kraus and Ben Hall.
