HERMITAGE, Tenn. – At least 30 people have been displaced following a two-alarm apartment fire on Bonnabrook Drive in Hermitage Wednesday morning.
The call went out around 10:20 a.m. Flames and smoke could be seen from more than a mile away.
After firefighters put out the fire, they determined that eight units were damaged.
Crews say the blaze most likely started in the breezeway and then traveled up to the attic. When crews got there, they had to call for more help.
"The weather is an issue today and our guys can only stay in for an amount of time so when you get we, it's a cold day, we have to rotate them in and out plus it takes a lot to bring these fires under control," said Steve Holt with the Nashville Fire Department.
No one was hurt, but 30 to 35 people were displaced from their homes. The Red Cross responded and opened a shelter at the at the Hermitage Church of Christ across the street.
It not yet known what started the blaze. Fire officials are still investigating.
