Janet Kim is an award-winning journalist who joined the
NewsChannel 5 team in December of 2010. Born and raised in Knoxville,
Tennessee, she's excited to be back in the Volunteer State, working with such a
Prior to coming to NewsChannel
5, Janet worked at WKYT in Lexington, Kentucky as a reporter and KDRV in
Medford, Oregon as the weekend anchor. Before that, she served as the Klamath
Falls Bureau Chief.
Janet graduated from the
University of Texas at Austin with a triple major. She has a degree in
Broadcast Journalism, Communication Studies, and English. She also has a minor
in Business. A proud Longhorn fan, she bleeds burnt orange.
Janet spent a semester in
Washington, D.C. at American University and interned at C-SPAN and WTTG. While
in college, she wrote for The Daily Texan and reported for the school's radio
and television broadcasts.
On her free time, you can find
Janet trying out new Nashville restaurants with her husband or learning a new
language. She studied Spanish for nearly 10 years and is fluent in Korean.
She's also working towards a Master's degree in Public Policy from the
University of Massachusetts.
Students in the Academy of Energy and Power at Maplewood are busy getting ready for next week's Project Expo and had the opportunity to show it off some of their projects to Tennessee Congressman Jim Cooper.
