Sioux Terrace and Cheyenne Court
NASHVILLE, Tenn.- A woman was in the hospital Sunday, after a group home in Madison went up in flames late Saturday night. Metro Firefighters had to rescue the woman from the building.
Firefighters say the fire believed to have started in one of the front bedrooms, but the cause is still unclear. Investigators spent much of the day Sunday investigating what sparked the flames.
The call for help came in just before 11 Saturday night to Sioux Terrace and Cheyenne Court in Madison.
"As units were responding to the scene, dispatch information was updated that they were people possibly trapped inside the structure," said Ricky Taylor with the Nashville Fire Department. "All the occupants except for the caretaker are handicapped in some form or fashion."
Firefighters say that caretaker helped rescue two people on her own, but one person was still trapped inside.
"It was commendable that she was able to get two of them out, and she tried to get the third occupant, but then smoke held her back," said Taylor.
The last person was saved, but she is now fighting for her life. The fire chief said the two people rescued by the caretaker are ok.
