Lisa Howe Pleased With Belmont's Policy Change

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – One day after Belmont University added sexual orientation to their non-discrimination policy, the former soccer coach whose departure ignited the controversy is speaking out.

Lisa Howe said she's pleased with the move by Belmont's Board of Trustees. She said she looks forward to seeing the words on paper put into action.

Despite an unclear response from University President Doctor Bob Fisher, Howe said it will be a big step if openly gay staff members will be allowed to work at the school.

"Such a good day for both students and faculty of Belmont and definitely a huge day for Belmont of trustees to vote like that," said Howe.

Howe said she has several job leads and doesn't plan on reapplying to Belmont.
