NASHVILLE, Tenn. - They bravely served their country and now one local organization is helping them transition from the war-zone to the workplace.
On Thursday, Operation Stand Down graduated 33 veterans from the "Mission Green" training program. It turns troops into weatherization technicians in just three weeks.
The training covers everything from training in TSU classrooms, to hands-on training at Fort Campbell housing, even career counseling.
"It gives them the opportunity to get a new skill set in an industry, ‘cause we all know the green industry is beginning to boom and we've all seen articles in newspapers about the weatherization opportunities," said Renee Bobb with Operation Stand Down. "So it gives them the opportunity to get them a skill to help them secure employment and of course end homelessness."
The program is ongoing and classes start twice a month. For more information, visit www.osdnashville.org.
