Belmont Hires New Women's Soccer Coach

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two months after Belmont University and women's soccer coach Lisa Howe parted ways, the search for her replacement is over.

Heather Henson is joining the Bruins after 12 years as head coach for East Tennessee State's women's soccer team.

While coaching ETSU's Lady Bucs, Henson led her team to success on the field and the classroom, boasting several conference games and the sixth highest team GPA in the nation.

The Dallas native is the sixth head women's soccer coach in Belmont's history.

Howe abruptly left the University in December, after revealing that her same-sex partner was pregnant. Since then, the University has amended its non-discrimination policy to include sexual orientation.
