(AP) NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Mike Fisher knows there were probably several teams that would have traded with the Ottawa Senators for him. In the end, he thinks the team picked the best option by sending him to play for the Nashville Predators.
Fisher said the Predators will be a good fit for him because of their aggressive style of play and contention for a spot in the playoffs.
Plus, he's already knows several of the players and is plenty comfortable with Nashville, where he and his wife, country music star Carrie Underwood already have a home.
Underwood said they consider the trade an exciting opportunity for Fisher and that she supports him wherever he plays.
The Senators traded the forward to the Predators on Thursday for a first-round draft pick and a future conditional pick. Ottawa is last in the Southeast Division with 42 points while Nashville is five points behind first-place Detroit in the Central.
Fisher could play for the Preds Saturday.
