NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Fire crews were called out to a house fire in Madison on Wednesday night, where they believed someone was trapped inside
When fire crews got on the scene on McArthur Drive around 7 p.m., flames were already shooting from the home.
Two teams went in, one battled the blaze while the other checked for someone who might be trapped inside.
It turns out the owner wasn't home, but her dog was.
"Firefighters immediately removed the dog, got it outside and started resuscitation. They got the dog breathing. The owner then arrived on scene and has taken the dog to the emergency vet clinic," said Nashville Fire Captain Ricky Taylor.
Fire officials said the house is unlivable. On Thursday, fire investigators will return to determine what caused the fire.
