NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police said a father and son duo were arrested after allegedly stealing a police "bait car" with a tow truck.

Police arrested 42-year-old Shawn Wayne Preston and his 17-year-old son last Thursday night on charges of concealing and receiving stolen property, transportation of a firearm while crossing state lines in the commission of interstate theft, use of a commercial motor vehicle to commit a theft, and use of an unlicensed commercial vehicle.

Police said they received a GPS-enabled remote security alarm indicating the vehicle had been stolen from Briley Parkway near Brick Church Pike.

Preston and his son were stopped by Kentucky State Police near Bowling Green.

During interviews, they gave conflicting statements about why they were towing the "bait car."

Preston and his son, both of Caneyville, Kentucky, remain in custody in Bowling Green.

A warrant has also been issued in Davidson County charging Shawn Preston with theft.  Additional charges are pending against him and his son.
