Geoffrion Proud Of Family's NHL Ties, Wants More

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Blake Geoffrion is best known as a Hobey Baker award winner at Wisconsin and as the NHL's first fourth-generation player. He's the grandson of the late Bernie "Boom Boom" Geoffrion. He also has the tag as the first person from Tennessee to play in the league.

Geoffrion is very proud of his family's heritage. He even wears the same No. 5 as his grandfather.

But Geoffrion says he wants to make the best of his opportunity and prove he can stick around as a full-time player for the Nashville Predators, the team he grew up cheering.

The forward nicknamed "Boomer" is off to an impressive start. He has six goals in his first 17 games in helping the Predators sprint toward a sixth playoff berth in seven seasons.
