NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A new tree is standing at Bicentennial Mall to honor victims of crime.
House Speaker Beth Harwell along with the Board of Probation and Parole were at Monday's tree planting ceremony.
It's all to kick off National Crime Victims' Rights Week.
Officials said the tree will serve as a reminder of the strength and hope victims take on to endure the loss of family and friends.
"(It) means never forgetting the impact of that crime, those who have lost a loved one, those who will forever have a huge hole in their lives," said Harwell.
Tree planting ceremonies will continue all this week across the state.
