500 Drivers Receive Free Gas Wednesday

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Shell and Kroger teamed up to give away free gas Wednesday morning beginning at 7 a.m. The event took place at the Shell gas station located at 3863 Dickerson Pike.

Drivers were able to get 15 gallons of regular grade Shell Nitrogen Enriched Gasoline per vehicle. No purchase was necessary.

The event was part of a celebration for the expanded partnership between the two businesses.

The giveaway lasted until 8:30 a.m. Nearly 500 customers were served, and 6,000 gallons of gas were given away. Shell and Kroger also gave away free bottles of water and gift cards.

The event backed up traffic on Dickerson Pike from Old Hickory Boulevard to Interstate 65.

With the first day of TCAP testing Wednesday morning, Metro School officials said they feared the traffic jam could delay parents and buses, but they said there were no reported incidents due to the giveaway.
