Security Cameras Removed At Murfreesboro Mosque Site
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Several mysterious security cameras set up near the construction site of a new mosque in Rutherford County are now gone, according to attorney Joe Brandon.
Brandon works on behalf of citizens who want to stop the project and had complained about the cameras, which were installed in November at the property on Veals Road.
Islamic leaders said they had nothing to do with the cameras.
The Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation confirms to us that ATF investigators investigating arson on the property were the ones who originally asked permission to install the cameras. They were also the ones who took them down.
Brandon said the plaintiffs don't necessarily buy that theory, but said his clients are relieved that the cameras are gone.
Brandon is suing the county on behalf of 17 plaintiffs, including neighbors, for approving construction of the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro.
