Fort Campbell Soldier Killed In Afghanistan

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – A Fort Campbell soldier has been killed in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense said 22-year-old Specialist Sonny Jade Moses died on April 18 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany. He had suffered wounds as a result of a suicide attack that took place during a meeting on Forward Operating Base Gamberi, Nangarhar province, Afghanistan on April 16.

Moses, of Koror, Palau, was assigned to Headquarters and headquarters Company, 101st Special Troops Battalion, 101st Sustainment Brigade, 101st Airborne Divisio. He died at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany.

He joined the Army in August 2006 and arrived at Fort Campbell in November 2009.

Moses is survived by his wife, Rachel Coots-Moses and daughter, Juanita Moses, both of Oak Grove, Ky. He is also survived by his father, Sudo Moses and mother, Anemary Moses, both of Koror, Palau.

A memorial service has been held for Moses in Afghanistan. Fort Campbell holds a monthly Eagle Remembrance Ceremony to honor fallen Screaming Eagles. The next ceremony will be held May 11 at 4 p.m.
