NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police have charged a man with kidnapping a 16-year-old acquaintance from her school bus stop and then raping her at his apartment.

28-year-old Herbert Allen Young was charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated rape. Police said he drove up to the bus stop around 6:30 a.m. Monday where the victim and three other students were waiting. He allegedly got out of his black Ford Explorer with a gun in his hand and demanded the teen get in his car, and grabbed her arm forcing her into the SUV.

The teen told police that Young drove her to a parking lot near his home where they talked. He then allegedly took her inside his apartment in the Southwood Park complex off Briley Parkway near the airport, and raped her.

Young and the girl returned to his SUV, and he stopped for gas before dropping the teen off at her school, Hillsboro High, at 8:25 a.m. Officers spotted the SUV on West End Avenue as they were headed to the school. They followed the SUV until he dropped the teen off and then took him into custody off school property.

Police said the victim knew Young through a mutual acquaintance. Young told investigators that he suspected the victim and her friend tried to steal from his wallet last month.

Young is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond. He is presently on probation out of South Carolina for stalking.
