GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. – The bomb squad was called to the scene of a bank robbery after the suspect allegedly left behind a suspicious device.
It happened around 2:15 p.m. Friday at the U.S. Bank on South Dickerson Road in Goodlettsville. Police said the robber, who was wearing a Farm Bureau Hat with a Titans Logo, walked in to the bank and demanded money. Police said he then placed a suspicious package on the counter and said it was a bomb.
The bomb squad sent in a robot to determine what the package was. It was determined not to be a bomb, but police said it looked like two walkie talkies with some wiring.
Authorities had to shut down a stretch of the road while they investigated, but it has since been re-opened.
Witnesses told police the robber left in a brown convertible, possibly a Chrysler, with a black top. The car was parked in the rear of the bank, and a woman was driving.
Police are still searching for the robber, and the investigation continues.
