Amazon Hiring For Distribution Centers In Tennessee

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - There's been a lot of controversy surrounding Amazon coming to Tennessee. But the company is moving ahead with its hiring in Bradley and Hamilton County distribution centers.

The company has hundreds of full-time positions available.

Some of the hourly jobs include picking, packing and receiving.  There are also management positions available in operations, safety, human resources and technical support.

The facilities are expected to open later this fall.

The controversy revolves around a deal made by former governor Phil Bredesen that if they built  in Tennessee, they wouldn't have to pay any sales tax.

Some state lawmakers don't like the deal and are now looking to sign a bill that would change that. They argue that Tennessee could lose out in the long run if Amazon doesn't pay millions in much needed sales tax.

Federal law may be on Amazon's side, because they are building warehouses, not stores.

Amazon has threatened to pull out of the deal in Tennessee if the bill is passed. Amazon has faced similar fights in other states and even pulled out of doing business in other places.
