GALLATIN, Tenn. - The second worker injured in a flash fire at a Gallatin industrial plant in January has died of complications from his injuries.
Vernon Corley died Saturday at Vanderbilt; 16 weeks after he was seriously burned in the flash fire at Hoeganaes Corporation in Gallatin.
Corley and another mechanic, Wiley Sherburne, were fixing a broken elevator back in January when flammable metal dust that had accumulated in the area ignited, engulfing them in flames. Sherburne died two days later.
Corley leaves behind a wife and four young children.
