KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee has signed center Yemi Makanjuola as the fifth member of its 2011-12 class.
The 6-foot-9 Lagos, Nigeria, native moved to the United States in January 2010 to attend Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va. He transferred to Word of God Academy in Raleigh, N.C., for the 2010-11 school year.
Makanjuola averaged 12 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks as Word of God posted a 24-3 record last season.
He chose Tennessee over Indiana and joins forward Dwight Miller and guards Wes Washpun, Josh Richardson and Quinton Chievous as coach Cuonzo Martin's first signing class at Tennessee.
