RECIPE # 4649 - TIRAMISU TRIFLE - Wednesday, June 1, 2011



2 (3-oz) pkgs lady fingers (24 each pkg)

1/2 cup strongly brewed coffee

1/4 cup amaretto liqueur, optional

1 (8-oz) pkg Neufchatel cream cheese, softened

4 cups cold skim milk

2 (3.4-oz) pkgs instant French vanilla pudding and pie filling

2 (8-oz) containers lite frozen whipped topping, thawed, divided (or use 1 cup whipping cream, whipped for topping)

1 quart strawberries, sliced

1 square semi-sweet chocolate, shaved

1 (3-oz) pkg sliced almonds, toasted

Line bottom and sides of a trifle bowl with l package of lady fingers.  Combine coffee and liqueur; stir.  Brush half of mixture on lady fingers.  In a large bowl beat Neufchatel cheese; add milk and pudding mix and beat until smooth.  Stir in whipped topping.  Spread half of filling on top of lady fingers.  Add half of sliced strawberries and repeat layers of lady fingers, filling and strawberries.  Top with whipping cream or whipped topping.  Cover top with shaved chocolate and almonds.  Refrigerate several hours.  Yield:  about 16 servings.  **For stronger coffee flavor, use 1 cup strongly brewed coffee; could half recipe if desired
