BEDFORD COUNTY, Tenn. - Bedford County authorities said a woman had been drinking and texting when she crashed her car and knocked out power to thousands.
Police said Cara Countzler was driving on Birch Street just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, when she lost control, flipping her car, and snapping a utility pole.
She wasn't hurt, but the broken pole left more than 2,000 customers in the dark for nearly half an hour.
Countzler told police she'd been drinking earlier in the day and admitted to texting.
She was given a field sobriety test before police arrested her for DUI, and cited her for texting while driving.
