LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Muhammad Ali says he remembers Nelson Mandela as a symbol of forgiveness who overcame racial injustice. Ali said in a statement that Mandela inspired others to "reach for what appeared to be impossible" and to break through barriers. The former South African president died yesterday at the age of 95.
DETROIT (AP) - U.S. Sen. Rand Paul says lower taxes could help revive Detroit, a city trying to emerge from bankruptcy. The Kentucky Republican is speaking to members of the Detroit Economic Club today. Paul gave a preview to reporters yesterday, calling for "economic freedom zones" in cities with high unemployment like Detroit.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky residents are preparing for forecasts filled with sleet, snow and plummeting temperatures. The National Weather Service issued storm warnings for western and central Kentucky through late Friday or early Saturday, while eastern Kentucky had a flood watch in effect into Saturday morning.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - The former executive director of a narcotics task force in Maysville has been indicted on a charge of embezzlement. Federal prosecutors say 52-year-old Timothy George Fegan of Germantown, was director of the Buffalo Trace/Gateway Narcotics Task Force and took thousands of dollars in cash task force agents seized during drug investigations and kept on hand for drug buys.
