NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Nashville Predators have promoted assistant Peter Horachek to associate coach.
General manager David Poile announced the promotion Wednesday. Horachek had interviewed for the head coaching jobs in Florida and Dallas before returning to the Predators where he has been on the staff since the 2003-04 season.
Poile said Horachek is very deserving of the promotion after helping develop so many homegrown players. Horachek previously coached the Predators' AHL affiliate in Milwaukee and won the IHL title with Orlando. He takes the role previously filled by Brent Peterson, now director of hockey operations working with Poile and coach Barry Trotz.
The Predators also signed defenseman Teemu Laakso to a one-year, two-way. contract.
