FRANKLIN, Tenn. - U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander stopped in at Nissan North Americas in the Cool Springs area for a clean energy forum on Monday.
The former Tennessee governor mentioned the fact that Nissan has pioneered the effort for electric cars. He also said the automaker is producing electric batteries here in our state to help the environmental cause as well.
Senator Alexander said with our right-to-work law and central location it makes sense for companies like Nissan to call Tennessee home.
The Senator also commented on Libya. Just this past weekend NATO forces hit a building, killing several civilians. Alexander has felt the President should consult with Congress about our involvement in Libya. And it seems his stance hasn't changed.
"I am not for a sudden halt but I would like our President, who is our Commander in Chief, to make a decision to bring our involvement in Libya to an end as soon as we practically can," said Alexander.
Senator Alexander also commented on our military being stretched too thin and the fact that the nation doesn't have the money to spend fighting in Libya.
